Redwood Sober Living Review
Redwood Sober Living in Vancouver, Washington was originally established in 2018. It is a 12-step based transitional housing program that helps men and women get back on their feet after going through addiction treatment. While living in the house clients are taking on personal responsibility, obtaining employment, and working on improving their lives on all sides.
Accommodations and Amenities
The sober house is a five bedroom, single family home on the top of a hill that offers a peaceful and scenic experience for all residents. The facility provides all the comforts of home, with a large kitchen and dining room, living rooms with TVs, and ample outdoor space. There are four bathrooms throughout the house, three of which are full, and one half bath. In addition there is a laundry room in the residence with a washer and dryer that clients have access to, with laundry detergent included.
Clients are responsible for getting their own food. However, there is an option for weekly food cards at an extra $200 per month.
Rules and Regulations
Clients are responsible for keeping their personal spaces clean, and taking care of household chores. There are 12-step and other peer support meetings close to the residence that clients have to attend, and daily house meetings that are mandatory. The structure of the program requires that clients either work or go to school.
There are house activities, such as group mediations, and having the residents hang out and get to know each other on a personal level is encouraged. Keeping in communication with staff is imperative, and there is always a house manager on site around the clock.
There are also curfews put in place that all clients have to follow. Accountability is key, and maintaining open lines of communication with members of the household and the facility manager is required.
Support meetings can either be AA or NA, or attendance of meetings associated with SMART Recovery or Celebrate Recovery are also acceptable.
Redwood Sober Living is adamant about the purpose they serve; to provide a sober living community that is safe and clean with like minded individuals. Throughout their time in the house clients work to improve their personal and professional lives and work on being a person in recovery. The most important criteria for clients to meet is a desire to maintain their sobriety in a substance-free, like minded community.
