The Basics
Located in Redlands, California, Redlands Center for Change is an outpatient drug and alcohol treatment and case management program that provides services to court-ordered clientele. As a subsidiary of Mental Health Systems, a behavioral health organization since 1978, it is once of many locations throughout the state dedicated to rehabilitating criminals and families through affordable treatment.
Treatment and Staff
Qualified cients receive individualized treatment plans made up of individual and group therapy. Groups focus on building life skills and cover topics such as socialization, early intervention, family education and relapse prevention. Compared to some of the other MHS programs, Redlands treatment curriculum is less intensive and geared more towards overall case management and helping clients develop and rebuild various aspects of their lives.
Individual therapy is generally used for intake and assessment purposes, as well as an opportunity to develop further treatment planning if necessary; however, counselors use evidence-based methods of CBT and REBT during sessions. Case managers provide services for education, employment and mental health care. Though not an integral part of the program, clients may be required to attend 12-step meetings, depending on their orders from the court. Staff consists of CATCs, case managers and Master’s-level counselors.
Extras
Additional services include on-site HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C education, screenings and treatment referrals. Workshops are run by outside agencies and occur once every quarter.
In Summary
While Redlands Center for Change is limited to clients with drug convictions, the program is a valuable resource, providing flexible and affordable treatment and case management in accordance with state guidelines. Clients can expect a network of experienced professionals to draw upon for help in early recovery, along with a good balance of evidence-based care and other related support.
