The Basics
Since 2013, Recovery Works has provided residential treatment in Georgetown, Kentucky, a small town between Lexington and Cincinnati, Ohio. The campus is situated on 10 scenic acres and features three treatment buildings: one reserved for women, one for men and the third for detox.
Recovery Works is a member of the Pinnacle provider network which operates a number of outpatient and residential facilities throughout Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Virginia, Ohio, Minnesota and Michigan.
Accommodations and Food
While in detox, residents have one roommate. When clients are ready to move into residential treatment, they are accommodated in dorm-like rooms with up to eight other residents. The living quarters have staffed kitchens, and all meals and snacks, which are prepared for clients, are typically standard American fare.
The residential quarters feature common TV rooms as well as pool tables, basketball nets and volleyball courts. For additional exercise, residents often go for walks on the grounds. Clients are not permitted cell phones or personal computers, but they can use the house phones to call home twice each week.
Treatment and Staff
Detox usually lasts between three and 10 days, and residents can attend classes, groups and 12-step meetings as their health permits. Once they transition to residential treatment (which typically lasts 28 days), clients have daily chore assignments and both group and individual therapy as well as psychoeducation classes that focus on addiction and recovery topics. The treatment team at Recovery Works includes psychologists, LCADCs, nurse practitioners and a psychiatrist who provides dual diagnosis support. The 12-step framework is a cornerstone of treatment, and clients attend both on- and off-site AA/NA meetings daily. Counselors also use CBT and other evidence-based modalities to help clients learn how to handle triggers and create boundaries.
Extras
Residents can schedule a family member to visit once each week. Aftercare planning starts early in each person’s stay, and Recovery Works helps clients locate outpatient programs and sober living facilities that work for their location, budget and recovery goals.
