The Basics

With facilities in Albuquerque, Belen and Roswell, New Mexico, Recovery Services of New Mexico is a CARF-accredited behavioral health facility that offers outpatient-based programs for clients struggling with opioid addiction. In addition to providing Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for clients going through withdrawal and active addiction, the organization also facilitates flexible counseling and case management services.

Treatment and Staff

Before beginning a program, all participants go through an initial intake and assessment process to help the staff determine their needs. Although inpatient detox services are not available, the main MAT program is essentially an ambulatory detox option. Those in need of more intensive services can also get referrals to nearby programs whenever necessary.

Although the specifics of each plan may vary, MAT service options typically consist of either Suboxone or Vivitrol dosing sessions supervised by nurses and medical staff. The initial consultation often includes meeting with a medical doctor and being paired with a counselor (specific qualifications and credentials may vary). While 12-step participation is not always required, it may be encouraged in some cases. Similarly, dual diagnosis support may be available in some cases depending on each counselor’s qualifications; still, those in need of more intensive care may need to seek out additional help.

The staff at Recovery Services of New Mexico consists of LCSWs, LADACS, nurses, case managers and additional Master’s-level clinicians.

Extras

As mentioned, the organization has many clinics including three in Albuquerque, one in Belen and one in Roswell. The facility also provides a more flexible treatment program directly for clients who are in jail in Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center. Participants who complete a primary care plan can also work with case managers to develop stepped down aftercare and discharge plans as necessary.

In Summary

Overall, Recovery Services of New Mexico provides basic but flexible treatment services to clients struggling with opioid addiction. In addition to its Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), participants also attend flexible counseling services and learn basic life skills. Once they’re finished, case managers can help them discharge and find jobs as well. Although clients in need of more thorough medical or psychiatric help may need to seek additional help elsewhere, Recovery Services of New Mexico remains a strong resource for clients in the area.
