Recovery Services of Northwest Ohio Review
Recovery Services of Northwest Ohio is a non-profit organization that provides treatment and care for those suffering from chemical dependency and mental health issues. Although the facility’s headquarters are located in Defiance County, Ohio, it provides services in three other counties as well: Williams, Fulton and Henry. Programs include outpatient for adults and adolescents and a residential program for women called Serenity Haven.
Food and Accommodations
Opened in 1999, Serenity Haven is a 16-bed, all-female residential facility that welcomes those who have children or who are pregnant. Each room comes furnished with two to three beds and women are accommodated based on whether or not they have children. All rooms have space for personal items and storage. There is a community living room and a recreation room with cable TV and a computer for communal use. All meals are provided, served cafeteria-style, and generally include a meat dish, a vegetable dish, soup and sometimes pasta or rice.
Treatment and Staff
Both the inpatient and outpatient programs begin with an assessment so that an individualized treatment plan can be designed for each client. Both programs rely primarily on DBT, an evidence-based practice, and the 12 steps, in individual counseling, group therapy, educational classes, relapse prevention and family therapy. Treatment for co-occurring disorders is also available to clients who need it and all specialized therapy will be integrated into the client’s treatment schedule. Regular attendance of 12-step meetings is also expected.
Treatment in the women’s residential program follows a structured daily plan while outpatient treatment schedules vary on a case-by-case basis. Both the residential and outpatient programs typically last between 30 to 40 days, though women with children tend to remain in treatment anywhere from six months to a year. Suboxone, ReVia and Vivitrol are available as well as medication management.
The staff consists of doctors, LCSWs, MFTs, LPCs and LADCs.
Extras
Upon completion of the program, clients are encouraged to participate in the aftercare program, which entails group therapy once or twice a week.
A driving program is available for clients with DUI offenses and drug testing can be administered to clients and family members upon request.
