Based out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Recovery Institute of South Florida is a multi-faceted behavioral health organization offering flexible treatment programs to clients struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders. The organization is Joint Commission-accredited and offers a full continuum of treatment. In addition to its outpatient-based options, clients can also attend residential treatment through Recovery Institute.

Accommodations and Food

Recovery Institute of South Florida houses clients in apartment-style housing with a total of 44 beds available. Apartments are shared between two or more clients, each fully furnished with shared common areas, cable TV, WiFi and common kitchen space. Once they’ve gone through the detox portion of the program, all residents are responsible for preparing their own meals (though an on-staff nutritionist helps advise clients about their meal plans). The organization also has a swimming pool at the organization’s detox facility which clients can use.

Treatment and Staff

Before beginning a program, all residents go through an intake and assessment process to help staff members develop their care plans. Those in need of detox services can do so on-site at the organization’s residential detox center before continuing on to treatment. Though the length of treatment can vary, clients typically remain in residential treatment for 30 to 90 days.

Once stabilized, residents begin attending individual and group therapy rooted evidence-based practices such as CBT and DBT. Dual diagnosis support and medication management services are available as well, with 12-step participation also worked into the program. As an added bonus, each treatment plan also includes a host of holistic care approaches including art therapy, mindfulness training and yoga. Treatment plans are individualized and subjects covered may vary, though groups often discuss trigger identification, relapse prevention, life skills, anger management and trauma processing.

The staff at the Recovery Institute of South Florida includes psychiatrists, psychologists, LMFTs, RNs, case managers, a pastor and additional Master’s-level counselors.

Extras

Other services include flexible case management planning and help with travel arrangements to the facility. The organization also works with Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) to help businesses with troubled employees get back on their feet. As mentioned, the organization offers a full continuum of treatment programs including outpatient, Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), some of which can be used as stepped down aftercare plans whenever necessary.

In Summary

Overall, the Recovery Institute of South Florida is a broad organization with many programs available for clients in recovery from addiction and co-occurring disorders. Treatment relies on both evidence-based and holistic approaches with medical and psychiatric oversight, all with individualized care planning. Although the cost of these programs may vary depending on each participant’s insurance, Recovery Institute of South Florida remains a strong resource for those in the area.
