The Basics
Recovery for Life was founded in 1998 by Paul Hardy, a Christian pastor. The faith-based, non-profit organization offers outpatient counseling to adult men and women in the Virginia Beach area and serves over 200 individuals per week.
Treatment and Staff
Potential clients undergo a phone assessment with an intake coordinators to determine if he or she is a good fit for the program. While Recovery for Life does not offer detox, referrals to outside agencies are available to those in need.
The outpatient program works within the structure of individual and group therapy, using CBT and DBT, as well as education, peer sharing and relapse prevention. The exact length and intensity of treatment is based on counselor assessments. Gender-specific groups address male and female issues separately and individual sessions are scheduled as needed.
Recovery for Life integrates the 12 steps into treatment and hosts weekly AA and NA meetings. It also emphasizes Christian values as a part of the recovery program. Extras
Recovery for Life also has sober living homes, which can accommodate a total of four men and 12 women.
Family and couples therapy is also offered, as are court-ordered DUI programs and assistance with job searches and resume building.
