Recover Integrity Review

Recover Integrity is a men’s only residential treatment program in Brentwood, an upscale neighborhood in west Los Angeles. The programs employ a unique approach known as The Developmental Integrity Profile, or D.I.P. introduced by Harvard trained Doctors Charles and Ronnie Blakeney. Treatment is a phase down system that uses the 12 steps and traditional therapy approaches in conjunction with a spiritual practice and self examination.

Accommodations and Food

The flagship Brentwood residence is known as the I House, which accommodates a maximum of 10 residents. The luxurious, bright home-like facility provides a tranquil and modern setting, with spacious, double and single occupancy bedrooms that are fully furnished and very stylish. The home has a resort feel, and offers large living room spaces and quiet lounges where computers can be used. There is also a beautiful pool and back patio with tables and sun chairs, along with some semi-private, shaded spots perfect for reflection and relaxation.

Clients enjoy healthy and delicious lunch and dinner prepared by a compassionate chef who combines her love of cooking with recovery and designs nourishing meals that compliment the warm and caring treatment program.

Treatment and Staff

There are four phases to treatment at Recover Integrity, each lasting between 30 and 60 days, depending on the client’s individual progress. The first step, known as the incubation stage, mainly serves as an integration to the program. During this initial step there are no computer privileges and limited phone usage so each client can get used to the way things work in the program. This phase requires a full day program and monitored activities. The next stage, depending on where the client is in their program, can have less clinical treatment hours per day, though many of the restrictions are the same. The next two phases have tapered clinical hours and begins to focus more on reintegration, aftercare goals, and vocational training while attending regular 12-step meetings and working with a sponsor. By the final phase clients are working or going to school a minimum of 30 hours a week, can use their own cars and phones, and are offered overnight and day passes. All treatment takes place at the outpatient clinic, and clients are transported there daily.

The initial DIP assessment is very thorough and assesses each client’s moral judgement and ability to regulate emotions, and from those findings the staff is able to put together a totally unique treatment plan. There is a follow up DIP after about a month and a half which goes over the progress of the client and see where additional measures need to be taken. Depending on each client, different therapeutic approaches are used that include EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and CBT.

A highly trained staff is comprised of Master’s-level CATCs, LPCs, psychiatrists, LMFTs and nutritionists.

Extras

During their stay, clients participate in a variety of fun sober activities like cooking, art projects and recreational outings, like bowling, hiking, paddle boarding and movie nights, that help create a trust and bond within the community. There is also a daily structured fitness program integrated into treatment.

In Summary

Recover Integrity offers truly innovative and caring treatment in a beautiful facility. The programs and amenities are five star quality, and the staff brings extensive knowledge and experience to their clientele. It’s one of the many reasons why Southern California is a premier rehabilitation destination.
