The Basics

Rebecca’s House is a behavioral health organization based on Orange County, California that offers a variety of treatment programs for eating disorders and co-occurring disorders. Founded in 1999 by Rebecca Cooper, who is an LMFT, author, speaker and eating disorder recovery advocate, Rebecca’s House was the first eating disorder rehab to develop a long-term residential program model for primary care. In addition to its extended residential and transitional living programs for women, the facility also provides Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) for men and women.

Treatment and Staff

Upon intake, each client goes through an initial assessment process to help the staff develop their individualized treatment plan. The PHP meets Mondays through Saturdays for six to eight hours each day. Participants have multiple therapeutic groups a day and two individual sessions per week, as well as visits with the psychiatrist and dietitian. Two meals and one snack daily are provided. Individual, group and family therapy are all critical components of treatment.

The IOP consists of four hours of treatment up to six days a week initially, with a gradual decrease over time. IOP includes weekly psychotherapy sessions and individual nutrition counseling. All programs employ evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT and EMDR. Groups cover a range of additional topics including psychoeducation, relapse prevention, spirituality, social and communication skills and co-occurring issues.

The team at Rebecca’s House includes licensed therapists, Master’s-level counselors, a Doctoral-level psychotherapist, an EMDR therapist, an exercise physiologist, a registered dietitian and a consulting team of medical professionals that includes a physician, a physician’s assistant and a psychiatrist.

Extras

The program includes a number of alternative therapies like psychodrama, yoga, equine and art therapy. Other services include academic and vocational consultation, family therapy and couples counseling.

In Summary

Rebecca’s House provides comprehensive and individualized outpatient treatment for men and women struggling with eating disorders and dual diagnosis issues. With a continuum of care that includes evidence-based and holistic therapies designed to suit each client’s needs, Rebecca’s House is an excellent choice for eating disorder treatment in Southern California.
