The Basics
Founded in 1966, Ravenwood Health is a wide-ranging, community-oriented organization based out of Chardon, Ohio, just 30 miles north of Cleveland. It provides a range of behavioral health services to adolescents and adults, including outpatient-based substance abuse treatment.
Treatment and Staff
Upon intake, clients undergo an initial assessment and work with staff members to develop an individualized treatment plan. The facility offers a number of adolescent-specific programs for addiction and co-occurring disorders by way of Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP).
The Bridges program is a PHP-level option that provides trauma-informed care, psychoeducation, CBT, case management, art and music therapy. This track relies primarily on group therapy and meets from 3:30 to 6:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Groups are broken into Junior Bridges, for children ages eight to 11, and Senior Bridges for clients 12 to 17 years-old. Free transportation to and from groups is provided.
The IOP for adolescents meets three nights a week for four hours at a time and employs the the same therapeutic practices as the PHP but with family therapy and three 12-step meetings a week an added component. An additional, 16-week IOP called Changes is available for clients with dual diagnoses. While the majority of treatment is aimed at teens and families, adults can also work individually with staff members to develop outpatient plans for addiction and co-occurring order treatment.
The staff at Ravenwood Health consists of LCSWs, LPCs, psychologists, psychiatrists, MDs and additional Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
Clients transitioning out of IOP or PHP can attend the eight to 12-week POWER program as an aftercare option.
Additional services include standalone psychiatric counseling for children, adolescents and adults. There is also intervention-level treatment options, like the Healthy Choices program, which is a six- to eight-week track designed to educate adolescents through psychoeducation and informational sessions about the dangers of drugs and alcohol.
Residential options are available for clients with severe mental illness and adolescents, ages 12 to 17, with behavioral issues. Intensive home-based care is available for children and teens.
