Located in Seattle, Washington, Ramey Nutrition has been providing compassionate, flexible outpatient treatment programs to clients struggling with eating disorders and related co-occurring disorders since 2007. Ramey offers two treatment plans—one called Elements, which is for those with conditions like anorexia, bulimia, and other food-related disorders or phobias. The other program, called Prime Health Nutrition, is designed for those who have a health condition that impacts their ability to eat, like diabetes, celiac or Chron’s Disease. The goal of the Ramey Nutrition Elements program is to help clients heal from eating disorders by addressing emotional and mental health.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning a program, potential clients must schedule an intake appointment with a counselor. Upon admission, new clients work with staff members to develop individualized treatment plans for each person. Dual diagnosis support is available for those dealing with anxiety, depression, bi-polar disorder and other mental health issues that may be contributing to eating disorders. Medication management is provided as well.
In addition to a variety of individualized treatment plans, Elements offers an intensive Day Treatment program, which is on par with Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). The Day Treatment lasts two to four to six weeks and generally meets for five days a week for 10 hours. Clients can also attend less frequently or gradually step down their attendance to meet their specific needs.
Day Treatment includes three structured meal times per day, as well as several snacks. There are also daily group and individual sessions that utilize evidence-based practices, primarily CBT and DBT. Topics covered include nutrition, body image, dual diagnosis issues and relapse prevention.
Ramey Nutrition’s staff consists of LMFTs, RNs, nutritionists, Certified Eating Disorder Specialists (CEDS), psychiatrists, LCSWs and additional Master’s and PhD-level clinicians.
Programming can also include holistic treatments like art therapy, music therapy, psychodrama, yoga and mindfulness.
Family therapy, including multi-family groups, is also worked into the program as necessary.
Ramey Nutrition’s Elements program provides a individualized approach to treating clients with eating disorders and related behavioral health issues. The Day Treatment program is rigorous, but all care is ultimately customizable, with a balance of evidence-based and holistic care methods. For those seeking adult outpatient care for eating disorders, this is an excellent option.
