Dalton GeorgiaProvidence Women’s Recovery Review

Located just south of Chattanooga, Tennessee, in Dalton, Georgia, Providence Women’s Recovery was founded in 2011. This non-profit organization is subsidized by Providence Ministries, which runs a large network of rescue missions. The facility provides low-cost, faith-based substance abuse treatment for adult women.

Accommodations and Food

Providence Women’s Recovery has a 30-bed capacity, and women are accommodated among three homes, including a colonial-style residence and two ranch-style houses. The houses are in a scenic locale, surrounded by lush greenery and woods. Residents are accommodated in cozy double or triple-occupancy rooms, which include bunk beds, dressers and closets. Each house includes a fully equipped kitchen. Clients are served three healthy meals a day, family style.

The women cannot have more than $40 in spending money, unless other arrangements have been made with staff. Cellphones and other electronics are not allowed. Smoking is permitted outside in designated areas only. Phone privileges are allowed between 5 pm and 9:45 pm, Mondays through Fridays. Clients can also use the phone before and after Church, on Sundays. Staff lives on the premises to provide supervision around the clock.

Treatment and Staff

Prior to admission, clients undergo a comprehensive interview process, which includes a phone interview, completion of an application, as well as getting blood work done to screen for infectious diseases. Additionally, all clients must have undergone detox. Upon arrival, residents receive individualized treatment plans. Treatment length is 90 days.

At Providence Women’s Recovery, the Matrix Model is utilized, along with Christian principles and a 12-step approach during treatment. Weekly treatment includes individual and group therapy, art therapy, addiction education and life skills workshops. Group topics include relapse prevention, women’s issues, trauma recovery, character building, peer support, early recovery skills, character building, anger management, co-dependency and Christian 12-step work. Clients participate in Bible study and Christian-based processing groups. Regular attendance at church and 12-step meetings is also required. Transportation is provided.

The staff of ten employees includes a Master’s-level licensed professional counselor, intake coordinator and certified addiction counselors. The 90-day cost is $4,900.

Extras

Residents participate in recreational activities including swimming, shopping, hiking, basketball, exercise and billiards. Amenities include a swimming pool. Only one-piece bathing suits are allowed for pool use.
