Priory Llanarth Court Review
Priory Llanarth Court is a specialist hospital in Monmouthshire in New South Wales. This facility treats men and women with complex mental illness, personality disorders and co-occurring disorders. Consequently, clients can expect daily medication management, counseling and therapeutic activities. In addition to therapy, clients work towards independent living through a series of educational and vocational training opportunities.
Accommodations and Food
Llanarth Court has 114 beds divided among eight wards. The facilities are spread out across a sprawling campus with a pond and walking paths.
The grounds have a fitness center, pool, social clubs, therapeutic rooms and a vocational training center. The housing units offer a computer room, art area, classrooms and communal lounges.
The units range from open security wards to medium security wards. Within every stage of treatment, clients work in the rehabilitation practice kitchens and learn how to prepare meals for themselves. In some levels of care, clients do occasionally make food for each other. For the most part, clients eat three meals together in the common dining room. On-site staff prepares the food.
Treatment and Staff
Once the client checks in, he or she undergoes an assessment process. From there, the team creates an individualized plan. Throughout the day, clients attend different group sessions, take classes or have work training programs.
Programs run on a three month cycle. At the end of the term, clients sit down with their primary therapist to go over their goals. The programs include substance abuse treatment, DBT groups, emotional management, mental health awareness and physical healthcare.
A main component of treatment is based on occupational therapy. As a result, clients experience enhanced socialization and personal identity, and an elimination of the sense of alienation.
In addition to the ward managers, there are clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers and nursing staff.
Extras
Clients run the on-campus coffee shop and cafe. During daily activity times, clients can work out in the afternoon or spend time in the craft shop, horticultural center, or carpentry shop.
In addition to the therapeutic wards, there is also a four bed independent living residence.

Throughout treatment, clients establish insight and coping strategies. Priory Llanarth Court structures the daily schedule with therapies that lend themselves to reacclimation and recovery. Above all, the facility is peaceful and serene, and programming is thoughtful and caring.
