Accommodations and Food
There are two dedicated treatment buildings on the 48 acre campus. The grounds are private, surrounded by well manicured lawns and peaceful gardens. The residential facility is known as Highlands. It offers nine private bedrooms, all with en suite bathrooms. The modern facility is spacious and furnished comfortably. Each of the bedrooms has a dresser, desk and personal TV. The common areas include a large kitchen, a dining room, a women’s only lounge, and a lounge with another TV.
The residential program provides all meals and snacks. A cooking staff prepares most of the food during the day but at night, clients take turns making food for the house.
Treatment and Staff
The program at Priory Hospital Ticehurst offers integrated care. Clients work closely with their primary therapist to create a treatment plan that is comfortable for them. During the day, clients go next door to The Lodge, which is were group and individual therapy takes place, as well as the outpatient program. The mental health program treats several different concerns, such as depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. The staff specializes in treating clients who have been diagnosed with a comorbid disorder.
Since the residential program only treats nine people at a time, there is a lot of one on one attention. Clients have space to address their specific and personal issues. During group therapy clients explore triggers and the root of their mental health problems. Individuals set treatment goals during their time in the program. As they progress, they begin to discuss the possibility of stepping down into a less intensive program.
Every treatment setting utilizes evidence-based approaches. This includes EMDR, Person Centered Therapy (PCT), CBT and DBT. In addition to traditional treatment methods, there are some holistic treatments as well, including art therapy. Priory Hospital Ticehurst can facilitate medication management in conjunction with therapy.
The staff at Ticehurst House are clinical psychologists, consulting psychiatrists, trauma specialists and art therapists.
