The Ticehurst House facility of Priory Hospital in East Sussex has been around for over 225 years. In addition to providing private mental health and addiction services, it also has acute mental health care for adolescents and adults through the NHS. These services include comprehensive inpatient programs for those who are in a mental health crisis or those who are being detained due to the Mental Health Act. The adults inpatient program is two wards. The women’s side has 16 beds while the men’s has nine. Each client has a private room and ensuite bathroom.

Residents eat all the meals on-site, either in the facility dining room or in their wards.
Treatment and Staff

The younger clients also have access to the on-site school where they take classes, in order to not fall behind in their studies. Further, in addition to continuing their education, they are also have a series of skills building classes and vocational training.
Both the adolescent and adult group can admit individuals immediately to receive emergency care within 30 minutes to an hour. There are several group therapy sessions per day and two individual therapy meetings per week. Clinicians utilize CBT based approaches, trauma-informed care and Family Systems.
There are frequent visits from the staff psychiatrist. Medical care is available 24 hours a day. Ultimately, these clients end up receiving about 25 hours of treatment each week. There is no set amount of time that clients must stay in treatment. Consequently, they progress through their program at their own pace.
The staff consists of medical doctors, psychiatric nurses, therapists, psychiatrists and occupational therapists.
