Treatment and Staff
During the intake assessment, clients discuss their needs and have their vitals taken. Eating disorder clients have a full medical and medication assessment and receive a customized treatment plan.
Clients in the eating disorder program have a structured schedule of group therapy, occupational therapy and nutritional planning with a dietitian. They can also anticipate individual therapy with a psychologist.
The acute mental health program offers occupational therapy and medication management. Additionally, the team addresses physical health throughout the program.
Priory Hospital Preston immediately admits clients having a mental health crisis. After they stabilize, they begin to attend therapy. Treatment protocols vary between the individuals but common practices are CBT, DBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and trauma-informed methods. The eating disorder program also uses the Family Systems approach. All levels of care have several recreational therapy activities every day in addition to process and group therapy.
The facility treats depression, anxiety, PTSD and stress disorders. All the treatment tools are recovery focused. Clients have an active part in their treatment planning.
The multidisciplinary team includes a clinical psychologist, consulting psychiatrist, occupational therapist and dietitian.
