The Basics

The North London facility of the network of care centers known as Priory Hospital has addiction and dual diagnosis treatment options for adults. There is also an adolescent only mental health program. The adult inpatient program addresses a variety of addictions and has an on-site medical detox available for those who need it. Treatment uses the 12 steps as a guideline, in addition to a specialized trauma reduction program. There are also tracks for clients with OCD, which is program that is unique to this location.

Accommodations and Food

The gorgeous manor style facility sits on a couple of acres that borders a nearby park and is very close to several train stations in the area. The adult wing of the hospital has 27 beds, all of which offers private accommodations that includes an en suite bathroom. Clients have access to shared common areas throughout the facility. These spaces includes a gaming room with foosball table, ping-pong table, several board games and books, and a piano. The Priory treats clients to daily housekeeping by the facility staff.

There is an on-site restaurant on the campus that creates customized meals for clients every day. Clients have their menus designed by a nutritionist, and the kitchen is able to accommodate clients with specific dietary restrictions, including Halal and Kosher.

Treatment and Staff

During the initial intake at the North London facility, clients have a thorough physical and mental health assessment. From there they present a customized treatment plan. As it is with all of the Priory facilities, the assessment is 100% free and holds no obligation to the client in terms of them committing to treatment at their facility.

The next step if the client decides to proceed, can include a seven to 10 day detox, followed by the 28 day program, or just stepping into the inpatient track right away. During this step in treatment clients have several group sessions per day, and at least two individual sessions per week. There are daily on-site AA or NA meeting, psychoeducation lectures and peer lead workshops. During these sessions clients learn how to identify triggers and work on impulse control.

Different evidence-based approaches are used during the residential programming. This includes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), CBT, DBT, EMDR and holistic methods, like psychodrama. The OCD specific programming uses compassion focused approaches, and some exposure therapies. Throughout this level of treatment clients have access to 24 hour nursing care, have OCD support group meetings, and are monitored closely by psychotherapists who specialize in OCD.

The staff of the North London facility includes psychiatric nurses, consulting psychiatrist, addiction counselors, and psychologists.

Extras

There is a family program that includes group therapy and educational options, as well as couples therapy.

Following the inpatient track, clients can step-down to the outpatient day program.

There is also a year long aftercare program for clients and family members that is totally free of charge.

In Summary

The North London Priory facility carries on with the standards of the Priory name by offering an upscale residential facility and providing well known and effective treatment protocols. However, the unique treatment options, such as the OCD and trauma programs, do set this location apart from the others. The convenient North London facility has a solid treatment program for all ages and mental health issues.
