255 Lichfield Road of Priory Hospital in the UK is an adult mental health and dual diagnosis program. Clients live on a shared campus with two levels of care. One facility is for clients who need continued support. The other is for clients in recovery who are transitioning back into their communities. This bespoke program focuses on clients reaching their goals. In addition, this is a program for clients who have complex mental health needs who have been through an intensive treatment.
Accommodations and Food
There are two separate facilities on the same lot where clients live during their treatment. One is an eight bed housing complex that provides more support. The other facility has 20 self contained apartments that allow clients to live more independently. Both facilities are fully furnished and private. The apartments are single occupancy with kitchenettes, a living room, bedroom and bathroom.
Family visits take place on campus. There is a communal family room on site.
The campus has a communal bistro and kitchen. Clients either make their own meals or order from the restaurant.
Treatment and Staff
Clients work very closely with staff during treatment. There is a partnership between each person and therapists throughout this stage. Clients complete daily chores and assigned tasks. There are also living and coping skills that are utilized in real world situations.
On any given day clients focus on building their confidence by taking on daily challenges. This includes going on solo shopping trips, cooking their own meals, and overall wellness and physical health.
Commonly clients begin in the higher intensity program and gradually step down to independent living apartments. Clients meet with their primary therapist regularly. Medication management is an essential part of treatment. Throughout the week clients meet with staff for one on one evaluations.
As each client progresses through their individualized program they often step down in medication needs. There is also an emphasis on clients really being aware of their triggers and how to prevent a relapse.
Treatment is administered by occupational therapists, psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, and nurses.
