The Basics
Located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area, Prime Psychiatry is an outpatient treatment facility that specializes in the care of adults struggling with alcohol and substance use disorders as well as co-occurring disorders like anxiety and depression. Founded by board-certified psychiatrist Dr. Efosa Airuehia, Prime Psychiatry offers a multi-faceted approach to treatment that includes an array of integrated therapies including evidence-based practices, nutrition therapy and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).
Treatment and Staff
Prime Psychiatry treats clients with a range of mental health challenges including depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, OCD and trauma, as well as sleep disorders and addiction. Individuals beginning care with Prime Psychiatry first undergo a comprehensive assessment that determines the best possible individualized treatment plan customized to their unique needs. When necessary, individuals battled opiate withdrawal transfer directly into the outpatient detox program, where Suboxone and Subutex are used in addition to therapy. While the length of care varies depending on the client’s situation, TMS treatments typically last between 20 and 30 sessions over the course of a four to six week period. Individual sessions usually last around 40 minutes.
Prime Psychiatry employs a holistic treatment approach that integrates several therapeutic methods such as evidence-based therapies, nutrition therapy, TMS and psychiatric assessments. Clients engage in individual and couples therapy as well as a number of “lifestyle medicines” such as smoking cessation, stress and anger management, vitamins, exercise and a focus on healthy relationships.
As previously mentioned, the facility also offers an outpatient ambulatory detox. Twelve-step recovery is not a component of the programming.
The Prime Psychiatry team is made up of MDs, nurse practitioners, Master’s-level counselors and social workers, a TMS coordinator and administrative staff. As Dr. Airuehia is a psychiatrist, medication management is an integral component of the programming for clients with co-occurring disorders. Dr. Airuehia was named “Top Doctor 2017” by the Chamber of Commerce.

Prime Psychiatry offers the option of video conferencing therapy, where clients work with therapists over their tablet, computer or even the smartphone.
