Primary Purpose Texas The Basics

Located in Lewisville, Texas, Primary Purpose offers safe sober living homes for men and women to continue their recovery. Of the company’s five houses throughout Texas, four of them (one in North Arlington, two in Grapevine and another in Lewisville) are tailored to men. The company also has one facility for women, located in Euless. Each provides a comfortable environment with surrounding resources to support each resident’s recovery.

Accommodations and Amenities

All PP houses have shared bedrooms which can host two to three residents per room, with typically six to eight clients in a house at once. All beds are twin-sized and walk-in closets are available in some rooms. Bathrooms are shared between residents, each with its own storage space and updated fixtures. The houses also boast spacious living rooms, and each also has a large outdoor area to enjoy the big skies in suburban Texas.

Within the homes, clients have access to cable TV, Wi-Fi, central air and free local and long-distance calls on the house’s landline. All of PP’s locations are close to open pastures or parks with beautiful scenery—each is also close to nearby treatment facilities for 12-step meetings and outpatient programs, should residents need them. Each house also has a room reserved for the house manager, who ensures the safety and comfort of clients at all times.

Rules and Regulations

PP has a strict no-tolerance policy for drugs and alcohol, and all clients receive random drug tests and breathalyzer screenings. In addition to remaining sober for the duration of their stay, all residents must also participate in 12-step meetings and work the steps with a sponsor to guide them. They are required to attend a minimum of four AA/NA meetings per week.

Thursday through Sunday all clients have an 11pm curfew, extended to 1am on Friday and Saturday. After residents have completed their initial 30 days they can take advantage of two overnight passes per week. Staff ensure that all clients remain productive during their stays, and that they regularly contribute to household chores. Additionally, residents are expected to earn an income and provide their own food.

Within the first few weeks clients must find employment, be attending school, volunteering for a local charity or actively participating in an outpatient treatment program. In general, PP’s facility stresses self-reliance and personal responsible to help clients prepare for their sober lives in the real world. There are no minimum or maximum stays at PP—clients stay anywhere from three months to two years, depending upon their needs.

Extras

Aside from the accommodations, residents also participate in activities available in their communities, such as playing in sober softball and volleyball leagues. As mentioned, all of PP’s Texas homes are also near parks and have access to lakes with boating and other water activities.

In Summary

In all, Primary Purpose sober living community provides comfortable environments where clients are supported and cared for. With off-site group activities as well as employment and school requirements, clients can lead full lives and create positive habits. With several Texas homes to choose from, PP is an affordable choice for those who want a relative amount of freedom as they transition into sober life.
