Accommodations and Food
Altogether, Preferred Family Healthcare has 350 beds for adults and adolescents available in its facilities. Residents can expect to share bedrooms with one other roommate, each with basic amenities including dressers, end tables and shared closet space. While the specifics of each location vary—for example, some are for women or adolescents only—each features modern decor and living spaces with couches. Some locations also include recreational amenities such as on-site gyms, yoga studios or music and art rooms. At all of the above, clients take advantage of three meals a day and snacks served by cafeteria staff.
Treatment and Staff
After initial intake and assessment, clients work with staff members to develop a program that best suits their needs. Depending on the location, residents can get treatment for both addiction and co-occurring disorders. Therapy includes individual and group sessions that rely primarily on evidence-based practices, such as CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Groups cover relapse prevention, addiction as a disease, stress management, coping skills and family dynamics. Some holistic methods are also included, namely the ARTC (Achieving Recovery, Resiliency and Responsibility through Creativity) method where clients express themselves through art and music. Clients are also required to participate in a 12-step program throughout treatment.
Staff includes psychiatrists, psychologists, LCSWs, RNs, MFTs, CSACs and other Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
Preferred Family Healthcare also offers outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) for addiction and dual diagnosis at 53 other locations. Residential clients are welcome to step-down to any of the outpatient programs as a form of aftercare. Some locations also provide basic medical care, drug prevention services for children, support for clients with disabilities and employment assistance.
