The Basics
Potomac Highlands Guild is a state-funded, multi-disciplinary services program with facilities in Grant, Hampshire, Hardy, Mineral and Pendleton counties of West Virginia. It is a member of the West Virginia Healthcare Providers and the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare. Potomac Highlands Guild offers outpatient substance abuse services to adults as a part of its behavioral health programs.
Treatment and Staff
Potomac Highland Guild treatment works within the structure of individual and group therapy that employs evidence-based treatments such as Motivational Interviewing (MI). Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is also available when necessary. It does not facilitate 12-step recovery but it does encourage clients to participate in AA/NA outside of formal treatment. Length of the program is based on the needs of the client and can range from a few months to a year. Frequency of individual and group sessions is also based on the client’s schedule and necessary level of acre.
Dual diagnosis support is offered through Potomac’s mental health department. While it does not offer detox, it can refer clients to outside facilities upon request.
Staff in the behavioral and mental health services departments include two directors, a psychiatrist, two LADCs, two LMHCs, case managers and CSWs.
Extras
The cornerstone of Potomac Highlands Guild is its DUI Safety and Treatment Program that offers counseling and education for people arrested while under the influence. It also offers psychiatric services and family therapy to adolescents and children. Case managers can assist financially eligible clients in applying for insurance.
