The Basics
Porter Starke Services is a non-profit community health facility that offers a variety of community services, including substance abuse treatment programs. Porter Starke has three locations throughout the state of Indiana providing clients with a network of support resources which include both residential and outpatient services. The Porter Starke Adult Day Program is an outpatient treatment program utilizing evidence-based methods.
Treatment and Staff
Before entering into treatment, clients must first go through an initial evaluation and assessment to determine which program fits their needs and to develop an individualized treatment plan. Those enrolled in the Adult Day Program meet for sessions scheduled at the Valparaiso, Knox and Portage offices every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The treatment plans dictate which therapies are the best fit for their unique circumstances and how often each client should attend each type of therapy.
All tracks combine individual and group therapy with specialized sessions that focus on addiction education and vocational training as well as seminars to help build social and interpersonal skills. CBT is implemented in both individual and group sessions. The 12 steps are not integrated into treatment but clients are encouraged to attend meetings outside of the Portner Starke program. Referrals to local chapters and other psychiatric services are offered if desired by the client or recommended by one of the counselors.
The staff at Porter Starke Adult Day Program consists of psychiatrists, LCSWs, LCACs, CADACs and LPCs.
Extras
In addition to the outpatient substance abuse treatment program, Porter Starke also offers a long-term residential program as well as additional community-oriented services. Children and adolescents can receive counseling and group therapy for addiction and services are available for those suffering from co-occurring disorders such as depression, anxiety, behavioral problems, bipolar disorder, ADHD and PTSD.

With a variety of different therapy options and treatments and individualized treatment plans, clients are ensured a well-rounded approach to recovery.
