Accommodations and Amenities
The 15 bed, two story colonial style house was formerly a funeral home erected in 1989. The vintage facility offers semi private accommodations within five bedrooms, six bathrooms and wraparound porch. There is a large living room with flat screen TV, dining room and kitchen. In addition, there are meetings rooms and quiet areas throughout the home that offer some privacy.
There are certain areas throughout the establishment where they permit smoking.
Rules and Regulations
Stepping Stone Manor is a six month commitment, 45 days of which require clients to not apply for work outside the home.
Clients are either self referred or are directed to the program from shelters, detox programs or recently release from jail. It’s worth noting, admission requires a stringent interview process by a medical doctor and therapist.
Once admitted all clients attend an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for three months. The IOP is a nine hour a week program, with mandatory attendance three times per week. It includes group therapy, psychoeducation and evidence-based therapeutic activities. Additional elements of the program including coping skills training and relapse prevention.
The morning starts at 5:30 am for meditation and by 7 am clients head to treatment. In the afternoon there are chores, maintenance around the facility, meet ups with sponsors, or Big Book studies. Some clients also work on completing their GED.
Every evening clients attend mandatory AA or NA meetings. There are also weekly house meetings on site and random drug screenings.
There are vocational training and continuing education opportunities provided to clients during the program.
Stepping Stone Manor gives clients a safe place to live while they are learning new skills and getting used to a life in recovery. Above all, the program aims to help men be self sufficient and able to support themselves. Throughout the program the clients receive a great deal of support in their recovery effort and all aspects of their personal and professional lives.
