Located in Maywood, Illinois, PLCCA Substance Abuse Operations is a community-oriented outpatient treatment program that provides counseling for adults and adolescents struggling with addiction. The organization was founded in 1968 by Bishop Dr. Claude Porter as an expansive non-profit with an array of services for homeless and low-income individuals.

Treatment and Staff

Before beginning a program, each client goes through an initial intake and assessment process to help staff members develop their individualized treatment plans. Those in need of inpatient detox can get referrals to outside facilities and programs as necessary, though the program does offer ambulatory detox via Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for opiate addiction for clients who are 16 years and older.

While the specifics of each treatment plan may vary, all clients attend both individual and group therapy rooted in evidence-based practices, such as CBT. Clients are also required to attend regular 12-step meetings as part of treatment. Therapy groups cover a range of topics including vocational skills, life skills, addiction education and relapse prevention. Though the facility does offer support for basic co-occurring disorders like depression and anxiety, those with more severe mental illness may need to seek outside help.

The staff at PLCCA consists of LPCs, LMHCs, case managers and additional Master’s-level clinicians.

Extras

In addition to its programs for substance abuse, the organization also offers standalone mental health counseling, GED classes, financial counseling, criminal re-entry programs and gang prevention and intervention services. Children and family services are also offered including Head Start programs, in-school counseling services and family therapy. Other programs include English as a Second Language (ESL) and computer literacy classes. Those in need of aftercare services can continue attending therapy groups at a stepped-down rate as well.

In Summary

In all, PLCCA Substance Abuse Operations is a flexible, community-oriented treatment program for clients struggling with addiction. Therapy programs are individualized and well-rounded with basic dual diagnosis support and a range of life skills groups and ancillary programs. For those in the area seeking an affordable treatment plan, PLCCA Substance Abuse Operations is worth considering.

  1. The director of the program is power struck. He talks to patient in a wreckless manner. He’s doing harm instead of helping. Unprofessional and uncompliance with rules of program. Changes needs to be address with all patients.
