The Basics
Founded in 2006, Pinnacle Treatment Centers began with just two chemical dependency treatment facilities in Pennsylvania. Over time, PTC has expanded to include inpatient and outpatient substance abuse treatment programs in Indiana, New Jersey, Kentucky, Virginia, Minnesota, Michigan and Ohio.
Summit Medical Services is an outpatient facility located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. SMS offers support for clients struggling with opioid addiction with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) combined with basic therapeutic services for adults.
Treatment and Staff
Prior to admission, clients are scheduled for an assessment appointment which includes a clinical evaluation to determine acuity and each individual’s unique needs. An individualized treatment plan is developed that is flexible, allowing clients to attend treatment mornings, afternoons and early evening. Clients with opioid dependence are encouraged to detox using Suboxone or methadone.
Clients attend group and individual therapy during treatment. Family therapy is also encouraged to help develop a healthy support system at home. Groups are intimate and utilize psychoeducational techniques. Discussions focus on relapse prevention and provide a safe space for clients to process together and develop a sober support system. Clients are also referred to local 12-step meetings to support their newfound recovery.
All groups are led by LADCs who use CBT and behavioral modification techniques. Additional staff includes case managers, physicians and Registered Nurses.
Clients enrolled in the MAT program are regularly monitored to ensure their medication is effective. Medical staff watch for side effects and to ensure the dosage is correct. Special groups are formatted for MAT clients to focus on their unique recovery needs. If at any time clients appeas to need more intensive treatment, they may be referred to another facility in the Pinnacle network.
Extras
Community referrals are always available for clients. Case managers and counselors offer their expertise and knowledge of sober living facilities, vocational assistance, medical care and other social services.
