In December 2016, Recovery Works opened its first treatment facility in Indiana in Merrillville, a large town in the Northwestern corner of the state inside the Chicago, Illinois Metropolitan area. Recovery Works Merrillville provides detox, residential and outpatient treatment. Its multidisciplinary treatment team offers dual diagnosis support and encourages clients to use the 12-step framework.
Recovery Works is a member of the Pinnacle provider network which operates a number of outpatient and residential facilities throughout Pennsylvania, Indiana, Kentucky, Virginia, Ohio, Minnesota and Michigan.
Accommodations and Food
Detox is a five- to seven-day program, and residents usually have a private room. When clients move into the residential track, they are assigned roommates in the newly renovated facility. The on-site cafeteria has a staff that prepares standard American fare, including evening snacks.
The staff show inspirational movies during down time and also host motivational speakers each weekend.
Treatment and Staff
Residential treatment typically lasts 28 days. Residents rise at 6 am and perform cleaning chores in their rooms before breakfast. Days are spent in group and individual therapy and clients have peer support meetings on-site and recovery homework in the evenings. Lights are out by 11 pm
Therapy uses CBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and the 12-step framework to help clients manage triggers and develop coping skills. The 12-step framework is a cornerstone of treatment, and clients attend on-site AA/NA meetings daily. The facility also hosts a weekly Celebrate Recovery meeting.
The treatment team at Recovery Works includes psychologists, physicians, nurse practitioners and a psychiatrist who provides dual diagnosis support.
Extras
Families of residential clients can attend an education/support group on Sundays, after which there are visiting hours.
Aftercare planning starts early in each resident’s stay. Clients can step down to RWM’s outpatient program once they’ve completed their residential treatment plan, and the treatment team may help clients find sober living facilities that work for their location, budget and recovery goals.
