The Basics
In December 2016, Recovery Works opened its first treatment facility in Indiana in Merrillville, a large town in the Northwestern corner of the state and inside the Chicago, Illinois Metropolitan area. Recovery Works Merrillville provides detox, residential and outpatient treatment. Treatment in its outpatient program is grounded in principles of CBT and the 12-step framework.
Recovery Works is a member of the Pinnacle provider network which operates a number of outpatient and residential facilities throughout Pennsylvania, Indiana, Kentucky, Virginia, Ohio, Minnesota and Michigan.
Treatment and Staff
RWM’s outpatient treatment is offered at the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) level of care. Clients attend group therapy three times a week and have individual therapy as-needed. They usually complete their treatment plan in three to four weeks.
The treatment team at Recovery Works includes psychologists and LACs. Co-occurring disorders are addressed in treatment, but clients in need of comprehensive dual diagnosis support are referred to mental health facilities for on-going, specialized therapy and medication management.
Therapy uses CBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and the 12-step framework to help clients manage triggers, create boundaries and develop coping skills. Groups teach clients how to best use the 12-step framework and they are encouraged to attend outside AA/NA meetings while in treatment.
Extras
RWM hosts a Tuesday evening family group. For aftercare, clients work with their counselors to create a plan that may include peer support meetings and/or on-going group and individual therapy.
