The Basics
Located in the mountains of Virginia, Pulaski Medical is a member of the Pinnacle provider network, which operates a number of outpatient and residential facilities throughout Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Virginia, Ohio, Minnesota and Michigan. Pulaski Medical is an outpatient treatment facility serving individuals in Pulaski County suffering from chemical dependency, particularly to opiates.
Primarily, Mulaski Medical treats opiate addiction with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) using methadone, but clients also have access to a full range of services including psychological counseling and medical examinations to support physical health, mental health and the tools to create and maintain healthy relationships.
Treatment and Staff
With a network of treatment facilities across multiple states, Pinnacle provides drug and alcohol addiction treatment and services to over 8,000 adults daily. Aiming to offer high quality addiction treatment services in a safe, caring and confidential environment, treatment focuses on the whole person, rather than just the addiction. Since all treatment plans are individualized, no two programs look alike. Clients are overseen by medical staff and dosages and frequency vary based on different factors and the client’s unique recovery needs.
In addition to methadone treatments, clients at Pulaski Medical are assigned primary counselors for individual therapy. On-site 12-step meetings, group therapy and family therapy are offered as well. There are 15 staff members, including LCSWs, CSACs and CDACs. A medical staff made up of LPNs, nurse practitioners, and two doctors supervise administration of methadone. As there is no psychiatrist on site, there is no dual diagnosis support, but referrals for mental health experts are available upon request.

Also included in Pulaski Medical’s treatment are educational classes on substance use disorders and referrals to other medical and community resources that might support recovery. Aftercare planning includes lessons about coping mechanisms and essential life skills, all of which help set clients up for success after treatment is over.
