pinelandPineland Behavioral Health Review

Pineland Behavioral Health/Developmental Disabilities is a public provider of mental health and addiction treatment services to the state of Georgia, with 33 locations in eight counties. For over 40 years, Pineland has served adults and adolescents with coed and gender-specific residential treatment, basic outpatient care, an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for women and detox services.

Accommodations and Food

Pineland provides two structured residential services—John’s Place, a coed facility that can accommodate 20 men and women, and Women’s Place, a residential program for up to 10 pregnant women and women with infants. John’s Place is a cabin-like facility in rural Statesboro with ample grounds and groomed outdoor space for recreation and exercise. For both programs, rooms are double-occupancy with space for personal items and storage. There are also living and recreation rooms with cable TV and a communal computer. All meals are served cafeteria-style with a buffet, usually consisting of a meat dish, a vegetable, soup and sometime pasta or rice.

Treatment and Staff

Both the inpatient and the outpatient programs at Pineland use DBT. Treatment options include individual counseling, group therapy, educational sessions, relapse prevention and family therapy. Those in the inpatient program have structured daily treatment, while IOP clients meet with their counselors three times a week for three hours. The regular outpatient clients meet once per week for three hours.

Pineland’s “Women’s Addictive Disease IOP Services” program aims to help women to build life skills to better prepare them for success in the outside world.

Duration of treatment varies among individuals but is usually around 30 to 40 days for both outpatient programs and the inpatient program. The inpatient track for women and their children requires a long-term commitment—anywhere from six months to a year.

Medically managed detox is also offered. Upon completion of the program, clients are recommended to go to aftercare, which entails group meetings to discuss the recovery process once or twice a week.

Extras

In addition to treatment services, Pineland offers care for mental health issues and developmental disabilities. Residential services, counseling services, educational programs and support for family members are just a few of the options available to the community.

“Women Ready for Work” is Pineland’s long-term residential sober living environment for women with children who are trying to bridge the gap between sobriety and employment.

Serving eight counties with 33 outpatient facilities, multiple residential treatment tracks and both an IOP and basic outpatient treatment, Pineland Behavioral Health is a comprehensive addiction and substance abuse treatment network With a strict adherence to evidence-based therapies, Pineland aims to support a wide range of clients and they pay particular attention to the needs of women and mothers struggling to maintain sobriety while integrating back into the working world.
