Waverly OhioThe Basics

Pike County Recovery Council (also known as The Recovery Council) was formed in 1977 out of the collective frustration of concerned citizens alarmed by the ever-increasing number of alcohol and drug-related problems in their community. Over the years, the organization has expanded its substance abuse and mental health services to include residential treatment, transitional care for women, a co-ed Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for adults and adolescents, case management and relapse prevention services.

Pike County’s two outpatient facilities provide programs that combine evidence-based therapies, the 12-step framework and a range of services geared towards helping clients learn how to maintain a healthy, sober lifestyle once their treatment is complete. Thanks to Medicaid and an income-based sliding scale payment system, nobody is turned away from treatment, regardless of their financial situation.

Treatment and Staff

The Recovery Council’s IOP treats women, men and adolescents by coordinating and creating individualized treatment plans tailored to meet each client’s unique needs. Treatment plans include CBT and DBT, weekly individual therapy and group therapy which is attended twice a day. Clients are also highly encouraged to attend AA/NA meetings during their free time. While dual diagnosis support is available, there is no medical doctor on staff to treat psychiatric needs or provide medication management.

The Recovery Council employs a culturally diverse staff who are licensed and carefully selected. The team, directed by clinical supervisors, is composed of LCSWs, CADCs, case managers and aides, addiction counselors and LACDs. Since the number of clients being treated varies throughout the year, group therapy can range in size anywhere from five to 20 clients.

Unlike its residential treatment programs, The Recovery Council’s IOP has enough funding to provide sliding scale services to anyone, including those who cannot afford to supplement any of the costs out of pocket. Case managers help lower-income clients determine their eligibility for Medicaid, which not only covers outpatient services, but gives them access to a whole range of health care options outside of their treatment for substance abuse.

Extras

The Recovery Council helps clients find services that can assist them with housing, employment and legal problems. Case managers work with various social agencies like Children’s Services, Job and Family Services, Country and Common Pleas Courts, Bridgehaven and Community Action.

In addition to IOP care, The Recovery Council offers women’s programs, GED classes, parenting programs, anger management and various programs aimed at addressing relationship issues, the reunification needs of parents and family members, relapse prevention and goal setting. Transportation and childcare are also provided whenever possible.

In Summary

With a diverse, credentialed staff, affordable prices and specialized treatment plans tailored to the individual’s needs, The Recovery Council’s two locations offer both evidence-based therapy and a broad spectrum of services for community members suffering from substance abuse.
