The Basics
Pierce County Alliance is a private, non-profit organization offering a variety of social and human services to residents of Pierce County in Washington State. Located in Tacoma, about 30 miles south of Seattle, the substance abuse treatment program has both an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and a standard outpatient track. Staff utilizes evidence based and traditional therapeutic methods to guide clients through recovery.
Treatment and Staff
Prior to treatment, clients must go through the initial assessment to determine which program is most suitable for their needs and which therapies would best benefit their recovery. An individualized treatment plan is formed, which combines individual and group therapy, family therapy and a DUI track for those with court requirements. Clients may also be placed in gender-specific group sessions if desired. All sessions utilize CBT and while the 12-steps are not included in the program, clients are encouraged to attend meetings and are referred to a local chapters.
Both recovery programs follow the same treatment plan, varying only in the number of hours spent in treatment each week. The IOP requires clients to attend at least 20 hours of therapy per week, while the regular outpatient track only requires 10 hours.
The staff at Pierce County Alliance consists of LSWs, LPCs and CADCs.
Extras
In addition to substance abuse treatment, Pierce County Alliance also offers a variety of other services and programs to clients and community members. Additional services include: chemical detection services, felony/veteran drug court services, alternative confinement services, family drug court, a foster care program and an independent youth living program.
In Summary
The substance abuse treatment program at PCA is a traditional program serving low-income individuals and those seeking a no-nonsense approach to treatment. Whether enrolled in the IOP or the less-intensive standard outpatient program, clients have access to evidence based methods of treatment, individual and group therapy to support a solid foundation for recovery.
