Philadelphia Recovery Residences (PRR) offers gender-specific sober living accommodations for men and women in the beginning stages of recovery from alcohol and substance use disorders. Rules and Regulations
Before beginning treatment, clients go through a short interview to determine the best course of action. Residents must be sober upon intake. The facility encourages a minimum of 30 days spent in treatment before entering the house. For individuals that are not yet sober, PRR can refer to local detox units and treatment facilities.
While it is technically a sober living facility, PRR does offer some therapeutic services often seen at treatment facilities. Residents actively participate in the 12-step community. Individuals obtain a sponsor and attend five support groups a week. In addition, clients must participate in weekly in-house meetings that focus on personal development and accountability. Individuals must perform daily chores and keep their personal area clean. The facility also offers relapse prevention workshops that teach coping strategies for the transition. In addition, PRR provides an array of life and job skills as well as assistance finding employment, building a resume and successful job interviewing.
Residents are required to seek and obtain employment within a month of move-in. In order to stay in the home, clients must pass regular, random drug tests. Residents are not allowed to smoke, and the facility does not tolerate sexual behavior, theft, violence or aggressive behavior. There is a 10 pm curfew on weeknights and 11:30 pm on weekends.
