The Basics
Established in 1998, Pfeifer and Associates provides outpatient treatment for drug and alcohol abuse, DUI services, skill building classes and mental health services for adults and adolescents. This central Oregon organization has three locations in Bend, Redmond and LaPine, all of which use the 12 steps and evidence-based therapies as a foundation for recovery.
Treatment and Staff
At Pfeifer and Associates, both adults and adolescents can receive treatment for substance abuse and mental health issues. Through a mixture of gender-specific therapy, 12-step work and addiction education, clients can learn how to lead a sober life. Detox and residential care are not available, though referrals to outside facilities can be made upon request.
Before entering the program, each client undergoes a bio-social assessment and receives an individualized treatment plan. For those in need of significant support, the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is available for both adults and adolescents. This level of care meets three times a week in three hour sessions. IOP consists of group and individual therapy, covering gender-specific topics as well as life skills, anger management, self esteem building, an introduction to the 12 steps and relapse prevention. Evidence based therapies such as CBT, DBT and Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) are all used as well. The length of the program depends on each individual’s needs.
Adolescents can also participate in a 12-week alcohol and drug education program that includes 12 groups and three individual or family sessions. This focus here is on prevention and emotional processing. In addition to a structured outpatient program, clients can also seek individual and weekly group therapy on their own as well.
The staff includes 12 highly trained staff members, who are LADCs and social workers with over 70 years of combined experience.
Extras
A Restricted Drivers License (RDL) Program for Deschutes County, DUI education and treatment services are available. This facility works closely with the DMV to ensure that the completion certificates are received and the client can back on the road as soon as possible.
Pfeifer and Associates runs two sober living apartment complexes in Redmond and Bend, both called The Sanctuary. The Redmond location has beautiful, groomed landscaping and the Bend Sanctuary is close to good schools, the hospital and lots of shopping. To access housing, clients must fill out an application in person. Apartments are assigned on an “as available” basis and demand is high because they are usually provided for free or at a very low cost to families in need.

Pfeifer and Associates offers a range of affordable outpatient services for adults and adolescents at several Oregon locations. Mixing 12 step and evidence-based therapies, clients get the best of both worlds. While those who require a more intensive level of care may need more than this program can offer, this is a great choice for those those looking for solid treatment services for a reasonable price.
