Perinatal Treatment Services Review
Perinatal Treatment Services offers pregnant women and women with children under the age of six a long-term residential substance abuse treatment program. PTS implements an integrative approach to treatment which focuses on treating the individual as a whole—rather than just the disease. Located in Seattle, Washington, clients are surrounded by big-city amenities and resources, making outside referrals and services recommended by experienced staff members easily accessible.
Food and Accommodations
PTS accommodations are held in a house-like setting. There are 12 rooms in total, with pregnant women sharing rooms and women with children in their own room. There is a living room with cable TV, shared bathrooms, a laundry facility and a fully equipped kitchen. There is a backyard with a small play area for children and an on-site daycare providing supervision for children while their mothers are participating in treatment.
Treatment and Staff
Residential treatment at PTS is a six-month program that integrates a variety of treatment modalities into a structured plan. Each client is initially assessed to determine their current acuity and to develop a treatment plan tailored to their unique needs.
Every client attends group therapy three times a day and individual therapy twice a week. Treatment options include life skills training, anger management and special programming for co-occurring disorders. The 12 steps are not integrated into the program, however clients are encouraged to attend meetings once they have completed residential treatment. All sessions utilize CBT and DBT methodology and the staff consists of an LPC and case managers.
Extras
In addition to the long-term residential treatment program, PTS also offers a CORE Program which includes free counseling and support for mothers and their families. Support services include mental health counseling, programs for partners/children, emotional support, treatment planning, parenting classes, education and GED help, court-mandated classes and referrals for counseling for sexual and domestic abuse.
