The Basics
People Coordinated Services of Southern California was founded in 1939 to provide social services to individuals suffering during the country’s Great Depression. Today, PCSSC is a multi-service agency providing youth and senior services as well as substance abuse treatment and prevention services. With a network of locations throughout the Los Angeles area, PCSSC provides services focused on creating a sense of community and support. The substance abuse treatment program provided by PCSSC is exclusively outpatient and focuses on prevention.
Treatment and Staff
Consultation and intervention services are offered by PCSSC to families of those suffering from chemical dependency to assist them in accepting help and into treatment. Treatment at PCSSC begins with an initial evaluation and assessment to determine the unique needs of the client and to develop an individualized treatment plan. Clients are required to meet with their counselor at least once a week for individual CBT. The frequency and type of group therapy attended is dependent on the client’s treatment plan, however attendance of group at least twice a week is encouraged and involvement in a 12-step program is required.
Addiction education seminars and groups are also offered to clients and their families to better understand the nature of chemical dependency and how to navigate through addiction and recovery. Random drug tests and breathalyzers are also administered throughout the program to help clients meet their goals of being substance free. Prevention and intervention programs and seminars are also offered to clients and community members.
The staff at PCSSC consists of LCSWs, psychiatrists, and LADCs.
Extras
The substance abuse treatment and prevention program is not the only service provided by PCSSC, they also offer Youth Services with education, counseling and after-school programming and Senior Services with housing and well-being workshops.

The no-nonsense outpatient treatment program at PCSSC is structured with evidence based traditional therapy, but also leaves room for individualized planning making it an excellent choice for those seeking basic outpatient treatment in the Los Angeles area. With a credentialed staff and required participation in the 12-steps, clients are given a strong foundation for lasting recovery.
