Pecan Haven Review
Pecan Haven of Monroe, Louisiana is a treatment facility for men and women. It addresses chemical dependency along with mental health issues. Both residential and outpatient programming are available. Clients in the residential program live on a campus of over 35 acres while experiencing holistic, personalized treatment. Care includes trauma informed therapies, 12-step and dual diagnosis support.
Accommodations and Food
Treatment takes place on private pecan orchard, hence the name of the facility. Clients sleep in cabins throughout the campus. At capacity, these can hold up to eight clients. All in all there are 58 beds, with clients sleeping dorm style in twin beds. The cabins are fairly self contained with small kitchens and living rooms.
There are several main buildings on the grounds where therapy and other activities take place. There is also a centrally located building that houses the industrial kitchen and dining room. In addition, clients share common recreational areas, like the game room with a pool table and games, the tennis, volleyball and basketball courts, and gym.
The sprawling grounds are well maintained and include a pond and several walking paths.
Treatment and Staff
Residential treatment is a 28 day program. Detox is not available. During this time clients really focus on their mental health in recovery though intensive therapy. There are individual and group sessions several times per week. Clients address issues like anger management, depression and anxiety, family problems and past traumas.
All plans are individualized and incorporate a number of different treatment modalities. They include CBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI), EMDR, DBT, the Matrix Model, relapse prevention, and contingency management.
Other elements of treatment address addictions like gambling, sex and the internet. Residents attend psychoeducation sessions and receive health education, HIV education, social skills training, life skills training, and case management resources.
In addition to the therapeutic program, there are several medical services. This includes STD testing, an array of health screens, TB tests, early HIV intervention, drug screens, and educational services.
Staff includes LPC, CADC, LCSW and therapists who specialize in addiction. There are also medical staff members who are psychiatrists, nurses and resident techs.
Extras
A key focus of treatment at Pecan Haven is dedication to repairing damaged relationships between family and loved ones. As such, family therapy is available.
Additional services may include smoking cessation, drug screenings, outreach and transportation assistance.
