Affordable rehabs villa park californiaPath to Serenity Review

Path to Serenity provides residential treatment for women in Villa Park, California, a small, upscale suburb of Anaheim in Orange County. Path to Serenity offers a small number of women holistic, evidence-based treatment in a well-appointed private residence.

Accommodations and Food

Clients reside and attend treatment in a large contemporary home with a plush, modern décor. Up to six women are in treatment at one time, with one single room, one double and a master suite that accommodates three women. The residence features common rooms for TV and reading and well-kept gardens, a gazebo and a beautiful pool for relaxing and congregating.

The residence has a kitchen staff that prepare meals and snacks; all allergies and preferences can be taken into account.

Treatment and Staff

Treatment plans are individualized but a minimum of 30 days long. Those in need of detox can stay in the detox unit (the single room) of the home for three to seven days at the beginning of their stay. Clients work closely with the treatment team and medical doctors to help reduce the impact of withdrawal, using Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) on a short-term basis to ease symptoms during the detox process.

Therapy in all programs uses CBT, DBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI), in addition to holistic and experiential therapies. Residents begin their days with meditation time and then have full schedules of group therapy and psychoeducation classes. They also have individual therapy at least twice a week in addition to sessions for the family therapy, sand tray therapy, exercise, yoga and mindfulness training. Process and education groups explore interpersonal skills, coping mechanisms and relapse prevention. In the evenings, residents participate in on-site 12-step meetings with a volunteer facilitator or are transported to meetings in the community.

For those who complete the residential phase but require additional care, Path to Serenity offers a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). This level of care runs Monday through Friday, from 9 am to 3 pm. The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is designed to be a step down from PHP. IOP consists of two group sessions a week for three hours each, Monday through Friday. Sessions are offered in the evening in order to accommodate clients’ work or school schedules.

The treatment team is comprised of Master’s-level therapists including MFTs, CADCs, doctors and nurses to oversee detox and a psychiatrist for dual diagnosis support.

Extras

For exercise, clients are transported to a nearby gym several times a week and on weekends they participate in local excursions, such as museum and shopping trips.

Path to Serenity does extensive aftercare planning with each client, including helping them locate sober living arrangements and finding employment and educational resources.

With its structured outpatient program and supportive services, this facility has the tools to help clients create long-term treatment plans to ensure their success in recovery.
