Prescott ArizonaThe Basics

Pat Moomey is a Board Registered Interventionist, a Certified Addictions Treatment Counselor and a Certified Recovery Coach. Although she specializes in recovery from chemical dependence, Moomey also offers recovery services for those suffering from other addictions such as eating disorders, gambling and sex addiction. Moomey works independently and has over 30 years of experience working with a wide range of clientele. She is also a sober coach for individuals who have a minimum of 90 days of sobriety.

Graduating from the Los Angeles Mission College in 1990, Moomey was then certified as a Chemical Dependency Specialist with certification from The Johnson Institute that same year. She then began her interventionist career with The Minirth-Meier Clinic West and the Life Plus Institute.

Moomey is also an educator in the field of addiction and recovery and has a long list of reputable clients who have called upon her expertise as a public speaker. Organizations who have relied upon her skills include Rancho Capistrano Retreat Resort, American Association of Christian Counselors, Overcomers Outreach Conference, Azusa Pacific University, the National Association for Christians in Recovery and the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence.

The Background

Soon after she established her own recovery from addiction in 1982, Moomey began to help others with their recovery. She has been in the field of addiction and intervention since 1984 and continuously educates herself to further her skills in order to offer the best possible services to her clients.

With a strong faith-based approach to recovery, Moomey led Christ-centered 12-step groups from 1987-1999 and organized “Christians Making Connections” which presented conferences to the Christian community from 1990-1995.

The Approach

Moomey asks family members and loved ones of potential clients to fill out a general questionnaire to assess if and when an intervention is necessary. Moomey then offers both the Johnson intervention method and a modified Storti model as well as the invitational model. She discusses all options with family members to determine which would be most beneficial.

Moomey meets with the family as many times as required to prepare them for the intervention. If treatment is deemed necessary following the intervention, numerous treatment program options are presented and intake arrangements are made with the chosen program on behalf of the addict.

Additionally, coaching services are available to help clients reach personal recovery goals and acquire certain life skills.

Post-Intervention and Summary

In addition to interventions, Moomey also offers case management services, meeting with the entire support team involved in the client’s recovery to ensure that the client remains stable. Referrals and contacts for aftercare programs are also provided.

Regardless of the type of addiction one is struggling with, Moomey is well versed in a range of intervention methods and spends as much time as is necessary with the client and their family for the lasting recovery.
