PFPThe Basics

Partnership for Progress, a part of the South East Health Group, is an outpatient substance abuse and mental health facility in Lamar, Colorado. It began offering services in six counties in 2006 and is part of a network taht consists of two other facilities in southeastern ColoradoWellness Works in La Junta and South East Mental Health Services in Springfield. Partnership for Progress offers outpatient treatment for adults and minors in a clinical setting.

Treatment and Staff

PFP provides emergency services including interventions, suicide prevention, involuntary 72-hour holds, substance use evaluations and assessments. There are no detox services available at the Lamar facility, though staff can refer clients to the Wellness Works program. After a pharmacological screening, Vivitrol injections can be administered by nurse practitioners for those who need them.

Counselors work with clients on individual assessments to determine the course of treatment, though, generally, clients participate in regular 90-minute group therapy sessions, educational groups lasting 30 minutes to an hour and individual counseling once a week. Outpatient treatment varies in length, typically lasting three to six months. There are specialty gender-specific groups, each of them hosting five to 12 clients at a time. The minimum requirement for the outpatient program is one individual and one group session per week.

The facility does not offer 12-step based treatment programs. The primary type of therapy offered is CBT and counselors also use Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), a relatively new form of CBT used for people with criminal and other negative behavioral patterns.

The on-site staff includes two LPNs, Master’s-level counselors and CADCs. Dual diagnosis support is availablePFP has psychiatrists contracted to visit clients on an as-needed basis. Overall, there are 100 staff members who work with the South East Health Group.
