Park Royal Behavioral Health Hospital Review
The Park Royal Behavioral Health Hospital in Fort Myers, Florida has been offering short-term, inpatient substance abuse treatment services, a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and dual-diagnosis support in conjunction with a 12-step modality for about 3 years now. Park Royal also offers Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) out of its Fort Myers headquarters and a location in Naples.
Accommodations and Food
Park Royal has a specialized wing for substance abuse services. Clients share their rooms with one roommate. All meals are included in cost of stay and clients work with an on-staff dietician who helps with meal programs.
Treatment and Staff
Inpatient treatment at Park Royal usually lasts five to 10 days but length may vary from only two to up to 30. It offers five to six group sessions per day which may include guest speakers and are run by licensed therapists. Topics addressed include communication skills, stress management, grief and loss and the physical impact of substance abuse. Clients are expected to participate in at least four groups per day. They have the option of taking part in physical and occupational therapy, structured activities and recreation, as well as on-site AA/NA meetings. They are seen by a staff psychiatrist daily and may receive a temporary prescription for psychiatric medication upon discharge. Clients are expected to follow up with an outpatient provider.
The Park Royal PHP runs five days a week, Mondays through Fridays, from 9 am to 4 pm. Clients see a psychiatrist and participate in group therapy and activity therapy for two to six weeks. Lunch is provided. To enter the Park Royal IOPs prospective clients must have completed the PHP. An IOP lasts approximately eight to 12 weeks, runs three days a week for three hours per day and offers options for morning and afternoon groups.
Park Royal staff consists of board-certified psychiatrists, social workers, therapists, primary care physicians, physical therapists, dietitians and 24/7 clinical and nursing supervision.
Extras
Park Royal Hospital also has a six-bed ECT suite available which may be used for treatment, if necessary.

Park Royal Behavioral Health Services offers an impressive array of services despite its recent beginnings. While not exorbitant, the financial cost which may play the most crucial factor in choosing to get treatment at Park Royal. A down payment which covers the first five days of treatment is required up front, while $900 will be billed to clients per day, if they exceed five days of inpatient.
