The Basics
Founded in 2008 in Boca Raton, Florida, Palm Beach Outpatient Detox provides outpatient-based detox and substance abuse treatment, as well as dual diagnosis support. The mission of this facility is to minimize the pain of withdrawal from alcohol, opiates or benzodiazepines using Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) if appropriate, along with evidence-based therapeutic modalities.
Treatment and Staff
New clients undergo lengthy assessments and receive individualized treatment plans. Ambulatory detox is offered to clients suffering withdrawal symptoms. MAT with Suboxone is used and clients are medically supervised in an outpatient setting. The treatment includes case management, individual therapy, an introduction to the 12 steps, relapse prevention, coping skills, stress reduction approaches, interpersonal and recovery processes, cognitive-behavior restructuring and emotional regulation techniques.
Palm Beach Outpatient Detox is led by Medical Director Steven Scanlan, MD, who is board-certified in general psychiatry and addiction medicine and has performed more than 1,000 opiate detoxes. His is also a certified Suboxone provider and specializes in co-occurring disorders. But perhaps Dr. Scanlan’s most defining characteristic is that he is in recovery and incorporates the 12-step approach into his personal life. Other team members include CADCs, LCSWs and an office manager.
Extras
Aftercare includes individual therapy, per client’s needs. Referrals to sober livings and recovery support groups, including 12-step meetings, are provided.
