The Basics
Located near Salem, Oregon, Pacific Ridge is a residential treatment center for adults. Set on 18 lush acres and about an hour from Portland, Pacific Ridge’s secluded location provides a serene environment for recovery. Founded in 1995, Pacific Ridge provides 22 and 28-day inpatient treatment, as well as detox services.
Accommodations and Food
With breathtaking views, the program at Pacific Ridge is focused on treatment for clients highly motivated to work toward recovery, rather than lock-down or corrections. Small, two-person rooms, communal meal and recreation areas facilitate the cozy atmosphere.
There is an indoor gym onsite and exploring the valleys and hills is encouraged. All meals are provided, and food is prepared and cleaned up with the help of clients. The menu varies, but is generally nutritious, sugar-free and healthful.
Treatment and Staff
Clients are usually scheduled an intake assessment within a day or two of contacting Pacific Ridge. This assessment determines the best course of treatment, and is performed with the assistance of a team that includes a doctor, therapist and technician. Clients are provided highly structured treatment plans. If detox from alcohol, opiates or benzodiazepines is required, the Suboxone-certified doctor provides medication-assisted treatment or other medication management as needed. Dually diagnosed clients are offered support with mood disorders, but more serious mental health concerns are referred to other facilities.
Clients participate in individual talk therapy, 12-step meetings, group therapy, family therapy, education, physical activity and recreational activities during their stay. Groups focus on relapse prevention, nutritional coaching and addiction education. Pacific Ridge notes their difference to other treatment centers, by encouraging family and loved-ones to participate in as many sessions along with the client as possible. This includes intake and individual sessions.
Days are long and highly structured, beginning at 7 am and ending around 11 pm. Daily reflection, groups, exercise, sports and visitation are tightly scheduled. The home-like setting and private funding means that clients are known on a more personal level than in a hospital setting. They are also allocated specific times to smoke, if they wish. Upon completion of the program, clients are referred to outpatient drug and alcohol treatment centers for aftercare. However, personal relationships are fostered, and clients are encouraged to stay in contact.
The highly-trained staff at Pacific Ridge includes a medical doctor, a nurse practitioner, CADCs and rehab techs.

Pacific Ridge provides highly structured care for clients in a home-like, serene setting. The cost is mid-range and Pacific Ridge has the advantage of a small number of clients, lending it an intimate environment. With the added benefit of being fully private, Pacific Ridge is able to tailor treatment according to the needs of the client, without having to rely on government funding. There is an option to pay day-by-day, which is less economical, but more flexible. Clinically monitored detox is priced at $850 a day and not included in the quoted cost.
