Oregon Trail Recovery in Milwaukie, Oregon offers a number of addiction programs, including gender-specific residential treatment, an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and sober living options. The 90 day men’s program is based on the 12-step philosophy and includes supportive group therapy, individual counseling and recreational activities. The end goal for treatment at Oregon Trail Recovery is to set clients up for long-term success in recovery by actively utilizing new life and coping skills to avoid relapse.
Accommodations and Food
The men’s residential facility is a two-story home in a quiet neighborhood that provides all the essentials that one would need to feel comfortable. The man-cave style living room has leather couches and a large TV. The kitchen has stainless steel appliances and the attached dining room can seat six clients comfortably. Clients share bedrooms that are fully furnished with twin beds, dressers and ample storage space. Rounding out the house is the huge backyard.
All food is provided by the facility and clients go grocery shopping once a week with staff.
Treatment and Staff
If necessary, detox can be facilitated at Pacific Crest Trail Detox. Otherwise, the first three months of the program introduces guidance and AA while teaching basic life skills, like cooking and money management. There are at least 10 hours a week of group therapy, one or two individual sessions and nightly AA meetings. Every client has his own recovery plan and works on employment skills, like resume writing and interviewing, or continues his education. If neither of those things are applicable, then several hours of community service are required. Residents also need to obtain a 12-step sponsor in the early stages of their program.
Therapy is evidence-based and includes CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Seeking Safety and mindfulness. Group sessions cover relapse prevention. Additionally, guided meditation and spiritual counseling are folded into programming.
Staff includes CADCs, LCSWs, medical doctors, LPCs and residential support staff. A unique aspect of treatment at Oregon Trail Recovery is that the staff members are all also in recovery. Some dual diagnosis support is available but those struggling with more intensive co-occurring disorders might need to seek additional psychiatric resources beyond Oregon Trail Recovery.
Clients join a gym upon admission and work out several times a week in conjunction with their treatment plan. The facility is near several parks, museums and hiking spots, and there are regular recreational outings to these places.
The men’s program at Oregon Trail Recovery uses tried and true methods to treatment. Participants can expect both evidence-based therapeutic approaches and strong foundation in the 12 steps. Clients live in a comfortable and modern home while getting to learn a variety of helpful life skills and finding joy in recovery. Oregon Trail Recovery is a solid asset for the community it serves.
