The Basics
Open Options Inc. was founded in 2000, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the capital of the state. The CARF-accredited organization offers outpatient counseling to adult men and women in the greater Oklahoma City metropolitan area.
Treatment and Staff
The intake process at Open Options begins with an initial phone call followed by a meeting with a counselor to help determine the individual’s potential level of care. If they’re a good fit, incoming clients then meet with a counselor to chart out a potential treatment plan. The organization operates on a sliding scale to accommodate all economic backgrounds. Men and women experiencing withdrawal symptoms or in need of more intensive care, are referred to outside residential or detox facilities.
The outpatient program at Open Options consists of a mixture of individual and group therapy. Although the exact length and intensity of the program varies from client to client, most clients attend at least two group sessions per week. The size of the groups vary at Open Options, however it tries to keep meetings under 12 clients if possible. Counselors aim to address each client’s individual needs in the meetings and implement education, sharing, anger management, relapse prevention and CBT. Open Options also teaches parenting skills to clients with children.
Although Open Options is not 12-step based, counselors do recommend clients to local AA and NA meetings.
Open Options is dual diagnosis and offers individual sessions with a mental health counselor for clients with potential co-occurring disorders.
The counselors are a mixture of LADCs, LPCs and LMFTs.
Extras
If the client consents, Open Options offers individual meetings with the counselor, client and their family members. The sessions aim to address family issues that lead to the client’s substance abuse and establish healthy communication practices in the family.
