One80tc Review
One80TC was originally founded in 1984 as a not-for-profit organization that provided men a long term residential program in order to free themselves from drugs and alcohol. It is a Christian based program with roots in the Teen Challenge network of treatment facilities. Currently the men’s program in Sydney uses a holistic approach that focuses on personal development and accountability in recovery. The program offers 12-step, relapse prevention and dual diagnosis care. For the past 40 years One80TC has helped over 5000 clients.
Accommodations and Food
The men’s facility can accommodate up to 45 clients in dorm style bedrooms in the Lower Blue Mountains. The sprawling campus has three main buildings. One houses the clients. The others are for therapy sessions and other activities. They also house the the dining room and kitchen. The rest of the grounds has areas for sports, a small swimming pool, a garden, chapel and greenhouse.
Treatment and Staff
The program in its entirety runs for about 12 months. The first six weeks is the induction phase where clients are getting used to their new surroundings and how the program runs. After this initial step, clients move into the main program and begin a structured daily schedule of chores, working around the facility, written assignments and prayer time. Throughout their stay, clients work on personal goals and achievements. There is a weekly requirement of a one hour meeting with their assigned case worker who helps the men by creating a personalized contract for treatment.
Treatment at this facility is self paced and includes a number of life skills training classes, psychoeducation, and group therapy. These sessions address self identity, repairing family relationships, establishing healthy boundaries and identifying triggers. There are also vocational training opportunities and the chance to continue education.
While the program at One80TC is Christian based, clients do not have to be religious to participate. There are weekly church services that the staff requires all clients to attend. The rule is, as long as the individual is open to learning about the faith, he is able to take part in the program. The main idea behind it is to provide a solid foundation in a caring community with like minded individuals.
Clinicians utilize CBT based and the stages of change model. In addition, the treatment team folds smoking cessation into the program.
Staff includes psychologists, case workers and peer support counselors. There are also interns who are people that graduated from the program and have the desire to help others. They are on site 24 hours a day and participate in group sessions along with offering support to any of the current clients.

In Summary
One80TC is a pretty self contained program where clients stay on the ground for the entirety of their treatment. Everything is provided with the expectation that clients participate with an open mind and really have the desire to make changes. One80TC has certainly changed many lives through its specific programming and transformational experience.
