Macy NebraskaThe Basics

Omaha Tribe Alcohol Program is a substance abuse treatment program tailored to meet the unique needs of members of the Omaha Tribe struggling with chemical dependency or addiction issues. The program runs from within the Omaha Reservation in Macy, Nebraska and clients have access to a range of other support services provided by and for the Omaha Nation. Treatment is exclusively outpatient and staff incorporate traditional therapeutic methods of care.

Treatment and Staff

Clients participate in an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) which consists of individual sessions held on a weekly basis with the total length of treatment typically averaging out to 12 sessions over a four-month period. Treatment starts with a 60- to 90-minute assessment to help the Master’s-level counselors and therapists form an individualized treatment plan for each client. Assessments may include a written test or a drug and alcohol screening.

Upon admission, clients begin individual therapy and depending on their unique needs, group therapy is also attended with a range of topics including pain management, co-occurring disorders treatment, adolescent-specific treatment, adult or geriatric treatment, relapse prevention and adult children of alcoholics groups. If the client approves, family or loved ones are invited to participate in therapy and discuss topics such as co-dependency and enabling behaviors.

The staff at OTAP consists of a team of Master’s-level therapists and counselors.

Extras

In addition to the alcohol treatment program, the Omaha Tribe offers a variety of other services and programs to members of the Omaha Tribe. Health education, violence prevention, a credit and loan program, child welfare services, employee assistance program, a real estate program, a court system and general children and family services are all available.

In Summary

The IOP offered by the Omaha Tribe Alcohol Program integrates traditional therapies with culturally sensitive treatment to provide clients with a multi-faceted approach to recovery. Through evidence-based practices and a range of group topics, clients can develop a solid understanding of addiction and build a foundation for lasting recovery.
