Treatment and Staff
Individuals come to Olympic Psychology Services for several reasons. Some are referred by outside agencies, which is most common is younger clients who need to be assessed for things like autism, ADHD, or learning disorders. There are also some cases when a client is being checked out at this facility due to a head injury to test for impaired functioning, or if there are signs of a mood disorder or dementia, for instance.
There are also several reasons why a client would come in on their own accord. It could be due to depression, anxiety, eating disorders, trauma, big life changes and transitions, parenting concerns or substance abuse issues. The staff is well versed in a number of treatment methods and can provide individualized care. There are some instances where clients may be referred to receive more intensive treatment at another facility, if it seems like they won’t be served properly on an outpatient, individual basis. This can also be true in cases where the client may need some sort of medication management for issues concerning a dual diagnosis.
Common therapeutic methods employed during a counseling session includes CBT, EMDR, DBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and other evidence-based protocols. And though programming is not based on the 12 steps, for those who struggle with addiction, it’s not unheard of for a therapist to recommend and encourage them to attend a support meeting within the community.
Olympic Psychology Services was founded by Dr. Lisa Hardebeck, who heads up a small but highly qualified team of counselors, all of whom are Master’s-level therapists.
There are services specifically geared towards clients who are members of the LGBTQ communities, along with those who are experiencing gender identity concerns.
The therapists at Olympic Psychological Services are able to offer the proper treatment using tried and true protocols for their clients for a variety of concerns and issues within a caring and private atmosphere. Despite being a small facility, Olympic Psychological Services still offers a myriad or resources for the Greater Tacoma community. In addition, the team here can provide the proper referrals if the person needs assistance beyond with this organization can facilitate.
