The Basics
Based out of Petaluma, California in the Bay Area, Olympia House is a CARF-accredited treatment facility for addiction and co-occurring disorders. Though the organization’s main offering is its intimate residential treatment program, it also provides outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) to adult men and women.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning a program, clients go through an initial intake and assessment process to help staff members determine their needs. Currently detox services are not available on site so those in need of detox must do so elsewhere prior to beginning treatment.
Once stabilized, clients can begin attending IOP, which meets for 10 hours a week of therapy for eight weeks. Those 10 hours consist of nine group therapy hours and one hour of individual therapy per week, each featuring evidence-based treatment practices like CBT and DBT. Groups meet on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for three hours per session. Groups cover a wide range of topics including anger management, 12-step recovery, yoga, Qi Gong, relapse prevention, art therapy, music therapy, mindfulness, life skills and trauma-informed care. As mentioned, dual diagnosis support is also available including medication management.
The team at Olympia House consists of consulting MDs and psychiatrists, doctorate-level psychologists, LMFTs and additional support staff.
Extras
Olympia House hosts a number of on-site recovery meetings including SMART Recovery, AA/NA, LifeRing and Refuge Recovery. Case management services are also available to liaise with primary care professionals, help clients find jobs and just offer general guidance on a number of issues. Vocational counseling is also available to prepare clients for the workforce once they complete treatment. Equine therapy is facilitated periodically too.
