Old Vineyard Behavioral Health Review
North Carolina’s Old Vineyard Behavioral Health is a dual diagnosis treatment facility that offers inpatient and outpatient services. The programs are for adolescents, adults and seniors. The adult treatment includes detox and stabilization services, medication management, and group and recreational therapy. Dual diagnosis clients also attend 12-step meetings. Old Vineyard recently added specialized programming tracks including trauma recovery and a mood disorder program for adults.
Accommodations and Food
The adult residential facility is separate from the adolescent and senior housing units. The adult living quarters accommodate up to 112 clients. They sleep in shared bedrooms that are simply furnished with small dressers and nightstands. Common areas throughout the adult facilities include a living room with couches and TV, and a cafeteria style dining room. In addition, the 16 acre campus has enclosed courtyards, exercise spaces and laundry facilities.
Adult clients dine together in their dining room for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are always a couple of options offered. Carbonated beverages are also available.
Treatment and Staff
Adult clients have individualized treatment plans that may include several group sessions daily, recreational therapy, coping skills, emotional regulation, relapse prevention and mindfulness. Clients in the dual diagnosis track get an introduction to the 12 steps and receive addiction psychoeducation. The adult residential facility on campus hosts the AA/NA meetings.
Those who need detox receive those medical services at the onset of their treatment. Medication management is available throughout treatment and implemented into each client personalized discharge plan. It’s worth noting, the length of stay at Old Vineyard depends on the client and his or her unique needs.
Staff of the adult inpatient program includes psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, addiction counselors and resident mental health techs.
Extras
Holistic approaches include pet therapy, yoga, and recreation. Family and couples therapy is readily available during treatment.
Aftercare planning is an essential element of the adult treatment program. There are step-down outpatient programs at Old Vineyard, including an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).
In Summary
This inpatient program is multifaceted and overseen by an experienced and caring group of clinicians. The residential element is comfortable, though that is not the focus of the program. During treatment clients receive medical services, aftercare assistance and referrals, along with comprehensive customized programming options. It’s a good mix of both traditional peer support treatment methods like 12-step, and medical guidance and supervision.
